My employer bounced my final payroll check ( they sold the business). I worked for a restaurant, and we had to close because of covid as well as a pending sale. After the check bounced I emailed the accountant back and forth for about a month. They were supposed to move money into the payroll account from ongoing ventures of theirs ( Restaurant is owned by a property investment group). For the past 2 weeks they have been completely silent on the matter and no longer replay to my E-mails. My question is what legal recourse do I have. The sale of this particular business will be complete by mid January. Due to that I don't think a complaint to the labor board will work due to the fact that the business will no longer exist by the time the matter is adjudicated. Any answers are greatly appreciated. I'm in Chicago, IL
