I am a month to month tenant with no lease in New Jersey.. For the last 8 months I have been dealing with a severe mouse problem. I have notified my landlord multiple times and nothing has been done. There is mouse poop all over my kitchen and I clean up mouse poop every single day. I catch and average of 2 mice every single day. I have continued to pay rent every month for the past 8 months because my landlord said she did not have any money. I continued to pay, thinking that she would use that and call an exterminator. She did nothing and the problem continued. So my question is, can I with hold rent until the problem is completely fixed? I'm tired of cleaning every single day and seeing these mice. Please help, I don't know what to do. This is a health hazard and it has to be some kind of illegal? Please help.
