Background: I’ve lived in my HOA controlled neighborhood for 13 years. We have outdoor cats the entire time.
Recently, a new neighbor has complained about our cats laying in her landscaping. I understand her complaint and we’ve tried to keep our cats indoors. We’ve laid fresh mulch in our yard to try to keep them here. We’ve put out catnip around the house to entice them to stay home.
Today she threatened to call the sheriff and have our cats removed.
Where are we at legally? Do the cats have a right to roam? I emailed the hoa but haven’t heard back yet. I want to be armed with legal info before I confront her. We are in Indiana.
