California. I just got off the phone with RabbitAir, an air purifier company whom I purchased a ~$600 air purifier from 5 years back. They are refusing to sell me parts or allow me to repair my own air purifier unit, but they will allow me to send it into their Downey, CA location and charge me $125 minimum to "have a look" since it's out of warranty.
The purifier broke about a year ago and I neglected to fix it until now. I'm an electronic repair tech and work on hoverboards, e-bikes, theravolts, etc. For obvious reasons right now (coronavirus) I want this thing fixed NOW!
My question for LA is whether or not I have the right to repair my own appliances like this in the state of California and if there is any statute supporting my ability to do so?
