My good friend is a dentist working in Ohio and she is trying to leave her current practice and go to another that she has been working part time for. She signed a year contract in in summer 2019 but wants to leave before the contract is up because she is not seeing many patients/doesn’t enjoy her boss. She doesn’t have to give a two week notice (as specified by her contract) but decided to give her boss a 2 week notice anyway. That’s when her boss told her that she can’t quit and that she is still under contract. Is he allowed to do that? We live in Ohio, and as far as I know working is considered “at will”. Any advice moving forward? (Also, as a side note, her new office does not violate any non-compete provision in her contract).
