I need to type this up because I can't post a picture of the actual memo here for some reason.
Memo:
Date: February 6, 2020
Re: Punching In and Out
As you all know, it is mandatory that you punch in when you arrive to work, punch out when you leave and punch in and out for lunch. There are numerous employees each week who fail to do this. This results in time being wasted finding the employee to complete their time sheet. Effective immediately, if you fail to punch in and out properly, you will not be paid for that day.
TO ALL HOURLY EMPLOYEES WHO SMOKE CIGARETTES:
You will now be required to punch in and out for your cigarette breaks. Michigan law states that you must be at least 20 feet away from the building when you are smoking.
I have read and understand the memo.

END OF MEMO
I've begun reading Michigan law myself to see if this is enforceable, but I am not a lawyer and am freaking out because like everyone, I'm human. I forget to clock in or out sometimes. I forget to clock back in from lunch. And losing pay for work I did is pretty angering to me. I'm currently searching for a new job because this is basically the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
I need legal advice on this matter. Please help!!
