Hi guys, hoping someone can explain my predicament
I got into an accident last month. I am one of the registered owners of the vehicle. The car is covered with full coverage under a policy. I, however was not on that policy or any policy for said matter. I received a ticket for driving uninsured. I provided the judge with the cars policy number and he waived my citation. The insurance company covered all damages to the vehicle. I filed an accident report with the DMV.
I received a notice from the dmv telling me that if I donât provide them with proof of insurance my license would be suspended. I was a little confused so I went to the DMV and the clerk told me today that since my name wasnât on the policy my license would in-fact be suspended.
However on the notice received it says...and I quote:
âTo stop the suspension DMV must receive proof that you were driving insured at the time of the accident....you may also be able to show you reasonably and in good faith believed the vehicle was insured at the time of the accidentâ soo are they referring me the driver or the vehicle i was driving?
Can someone clarify and let me know if I am indeed getting my license. The DMV clerk was so rude and dismissive of anything I had to say. I live in Oregon btw
