Can you be arrested for lying on your job application?
Post Body

Assuming the position you are applying for doesn't have some sort of certificate or regulated licensing would I get in legal trouble for lying on a job application? I am a reasonably intelligent individual who has been working at a fortune 500 company for the last 5 years (got hired as a temp) but I can't get a call back for jobs I am applying for because I don't have a BA or BS degree despite the fact that I've been working jobs at that level for years. If I lie and say I have one and somehow they don't check and I get hired can I be charged with fraud or something? I know I could get fired but I wanna know if I could get arrested or fined for saying I have a college degree I don't have. Thanks for reading!

TL;DR Can I be arrested for lying about having BA/BS on a job application?

Edit: Located in U.S.A.
