(Background) I’m in Boston, MA. I have been using a “hookup” platform on and off for a few months and never really had many issues other than one (I won’t get into). On the app I show my body but not face and I tend to stick to myself and just talk to men I am interested in.

(Situation) for about a week or more someone on the app has been harassing, bullying, and cyber stalking me. Everytime I report them they get banned, they make a new email and it starts all over. They’ve also stolen my photo once and made a fake profile and put very nasty stuff (that I wouldn’t do or be looking for) in the bio (it got taken down also). Then today this person reported my profile saying I was impersonating them (I’m clearly not) which caused ME to get banned. I went thru the motions to prove I was real to them and I got my account back.

(Question) does anyone have any advice for me? Do I have any legal recourse? This is causing extreme duress for me - I was bullied incredibly badly my entire youth (death threats, physical attacks, etc.) and it is reminding me of that and causing a lot of anxiety. I contacted the Boston police department and left a message for the computer crimes detective but he hasn’t called back yet.

Thank you for any advice. And also I know YES I could just delete the app but I shouldn’t have to do that. That is what the person wants (I think it’s a she, and that she is jealous) Bc there was a couple days that I changed my pic to a car and I got no messages until I put it back as my body pic.
