Post Body

Background time.

So in January I got run off the road by a drunk driver. I wound up getting a new car. Then I got laid off. My father offered to pay for my insurance beyond what was originally agreed on, but he never called and updated the VIN number so while he was paying for three cars we were paying for the wrong one. I picked a friend up from a bar to take her home because she wasn't okay to drive. I didn't stop long enough pulling out of the drive and I got pulled over. I got a fix-it ticket because I hadn't taken my wallet so there was no DL or proof of insurance in the car. When I went to prove I had both I found out that I had insurance, but it wasn't on the right VIN so I have to go to court.

Am I just going to have to apply for diversion, or should I appeal to get this thrown out? The numbers have been updated and I have valid insurance on the car. We were paying for it the whole time, but it was for a vehicle we hadn't had for months. I just need to know what I need to do because I'll pay for diversion if I have to, but I'd rather have this whole thing thrown out if appealing is an option.

EDIT: This is in KS btw.
