I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but it seems like a topic that could lead into some legal/liability issues.
I woke up this morning and started drinking some coffee, and after my normal routine I decided it was time for a bowl of cereal. So I walked into the kitchen, grabbed a bowl, poured the cereal, poured some milk, and noticed something black in the cereal. I initially figured that it was just some burnt cereal, so I tugged on it. Turns out it's a nail. Probably from a pallet, I would assume, but that's kind of irrelevant.
My first thought was to contact the company that makes the cereal, but then my second thought was what if they don't do anything about it? Ethically speaking, I really think someone needs to know...
Does anyone have any advice on how best to proceed?
Edit: apologies to the bot, I'm in the USA.
