Post Body

On Saturday, there was a lot of drama at my (24F) girlfriend’s (25F) parents’ house, and long story short, I was served a trespass notice by the police. I was told this meant that the next time I came anywhere near the property, I would be charged and could be arrested. The officer actually said I’d be charged if I even came into their neighborhood, which didn’t seem correct based on the law, but I didn’t want to be arrested or charged at all.

However, later in the weekend, her car broke down while in Kentucky and I was going to drive to bring her home. I was supposed to drop her off at her parents’ house, but didn’t want to be in trouble and knew the closest I could drop her would be outside of her neighborhood, so I asked if the father would call the police and remove the trespass notice so I could go. He told my girlfriend that he did that, but I wanted something specifically in writing from him giving me permission to be there, in case anything happened. He got really weird and refused to even send a text telling me I could come over. I got suspicious and took her to another family member’s home instead.

I found out today from the police department that he did not remove the notice and was trying to lure me there after lying about its removal. I can only assume he would do this to purposely get me in trouble; is that illegal? It seems like at the very least, he’s wasting police resources. What could I do here? How should I protect myself from him in the future?
