Hope this is the right place to ask.
I currently work in the Philippines, and I'm in the process of spinning up a Filipino non-profit organization. I want to be able to get it registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the states. So Americans can provide tax deductible funding to it, even though it's a foreign entity.
What's the best way for me to accomplish this? Do I need to spin up an organization in the states as well? I've done some research, that said that you need to do a "Friends of" type thing, but want to make sure that I have all the information needed before going down a wrong path.
Don't know if it changes anything, but the non-profit will be providing tech equipment and services to schools as well as attempting to better the infrastructure in several provinces of the Philippines. I'm an American from Texas and frequently travel back and forth, so if it's necessary for me to do some in person processes in both the states and Philippines that won't be a problem for me.
