Employer planned to take used but not accrued vacation out of my final check, however they didn't. My paystub shows -18.46 hours of vacation and no deductions other than my normal insurance and tax.

My question is twofold: can they now attempt to collect this money from me? I was an at-will employee with no employment contract, and had specifically been told they would charge unaccrued vacation time out of my final check when I did my exit interview after giving them my 2 week notice. If so, since I have direct deposit, can they try pulling those funds out of my bank account automatically?

Not sure if it's relevant, but the pay cycle ended on 10/19, and my last day was 10/12 (biweekly cycle, so this check is basically half of a pay cycle).

I tried researching, but had trouble finding anything about this scenario. Any help would be really appreciated, especially with regards to their ability to take the money out of my account.
