I was involved in a car accident almost two weeks ago. The other driver was at fault and their insurance has accepted 100% fault and already paid out for repairs of my vehicle (allstate). I sustained soft tissue injury to my mid and lower back. I went to a physician 5 hrs after the accident they prescribed muscle relaxers and scrip strength Ibu. A week later I was still in a lot of pain in my lower back and the pain was radiating down my left leg so I returned to the walk-in clinic (I don't have a primary selected yet) and they diagnosed a muscle tear/sprain in my lumbar, no damage to the spine though thankfully and put me on a 6day course of steroids (prednesolone pills) and a referral for physical therapy. I have missed several days of work due to the accident and have doctors notes explaining that I couldn't do manual labor. I have scheduled a consultation with a local PI group this week and I just need to know if this is the right course of action. I have been billing all medical treatment to my auto-insurance claim (I called my insurance first and they gave me a claim number). I just need to know if these are the steps I should be taking right now. I'm not looking for a payday but this entire thing has made my life so much more stressful being the earner in my household (responsible for 90% of the monthly income) and we don't have financial prep for something like this happening. This is becoming a very large burden that I wasn't even responsible for.
Thank you for your time and any advice you can give.
