Last year in July I had a baby. I paid the OB bill and called to confirm that everything was covered, they said yes. I paid the hospital bill, but about a month or two later they reimbursed me. I called to inquire and they said the insurance came back and covered it. Fast forward to today, I received a bill from the OB for $600. They said that the insurance is saying they paid it in error because I was not covered at that time. I was on my own insurance and my parents insurance as a secondary. My mom lost her insurance a few months before having the baby and this is the plan mentioned. I am concerned that we will also get a bill from the hospital again which was over $1000. We had set aside money in an HSA to pay for all of the birth related bills and when the insurance came back and paid we had to figure out another way to use that money, or lose it so it's not like we were able to save that money. In this situation we were forced to use it. I am just wondering if there are any laws or procedures that we can site that protect us from having to pay this back, or if we are responsible for the entire bill. I live in Nebraska if that helps in any way. Thanks!
