Time theft
Post Body

Hi all,

I am trying the best way to go about this situation. About 2 years ago my employer stopped allowing us to clock in and out, which results in me working for free for 5-20 minutes per shift. There is no plan in place to make sure we get off on time, and itโ€™s expected we are on shift ready to work 5 minutes before our scheduled time. For a long time I kept track of every minute I worked over, so I have a pretty good count. Unfortunately I was just laid off by them.

I feel like this is my chance to address with them the wage theft and get compensated.

However should I do it this way or attempt legal action? What is the reality of how much I could get vs lawyer costs etc.

I just want to be realistic realizing while the US is a very litigious country, that itโ€™s not always cost effective to per-sue.
