Hello everyone, my sibling that is currently in high school taking college level classes within the high school taught by a high school teacher. Recently he was accused for plagiarism. But there was no solid proof just speculation and rumors from students. He since received an F in the class and will not receive the credits. However my sibling has been approached by students that were not involved in the accusations or the investigation. The teacher has admitted talking to other teachers regarding the situation as well as students. And has also sent an email of other students involved to myself that don't support the investigation. My sibling and some of his friends have come forward to me with one being cleared after being accused of plagiarism, which has caused them emotional distress. But the whole school apparently knows that aren't involved as well as parents. Would that count as a FERPA violation in part of the teacher not protecting the privacy of the investigation? I have other proof as well that he did not and is not currently following protocol regarding the steps being taken on reporting the plagiarism to the university. How could this be pursued? Lawsuit potentially?
