Hello all,

I requested 2/14 off (today is 01/23) because I just received my sons school schedule. My boss immediately denied it because apparently too many ppl are off (We are a unit of 17 and 3 ppl are off that day)…i have tried to arrange babysitting and I can’t find it :( I asked my boss if she could add me to the alleged waitlist for that day and asked her “let’s say I can’t find daycare at all, what would happen? “ her response: “you’ll have to do what you have to do then.” - kind of unprofessional, right?

I am in California and Ive worked for the courthouse in San Diego for Almost 3 years.

My question is, can the employer deny my request due to this particular reason? D
