I’ve been waiting for 15 months for get my firearm back ( backstory: I was at the wrong place at the wrong time and a group of people tried to car jack me and open fire at me, I returned fire and hit one but no one ever died.) and when I would call they said the case was still open. I called today and was told “according to the guilty plea agreement all firearms were forfeited” and if I wanted to get my firearm back “I would need to petition the court and get a court order stating the firearm be released.” My question is why/how is this happening? Someone literally tried to kill me and I defended myself and they are holding my firearm. I live in Nevada . I’m sorry if this is a dumb question I have 0 idea about any legal stuff. Thanks in advance .
