Highway Patrol asking me to come into their office about a hit and run
Post Body

Just notified by my employer (trucking company) that I have been suspended after being accused of a hit and run and pending more info from police. Earlier today an officer from the highway patrol asked me to come into their office to discuss details of a reported hit and run from 2 weeks ago. He told me where it happened and said they had video evidence and if I recall a collision with another truck on the highway. I told him I was not aware of anything like that but said I could come in tomorrow to talk about it. He said I’m facing a possible misdemeanor hit and run but if i come in and cooperate they might be able to work with me. Upon going in to work I saw the drive cam footage. It is the other drivers front camera and shows me passing on the left and coming very close but you cannot see that any contact was made to their truck ( said I hit the side mirror, plus more).

Do I need a lawyer or should I keep my arrangement with the officer as I said ?

Again, none of the footage actually shows me hitting them, and I don’t think I did. For all I know they had previous damage and used this as a setup saying “look this guy got really close and did this”
