Hi friends, I'm in serious need of help right now. In October, I was talking to a man that I met online and he wanted to spoil me so he started sending me money on venmo. We talked for about a month but I ultimately ended up breaking things off. He filed disputes on all of the money that he sent me and I was really hurt by this and stupidly deleted all of our texts in anger. I just didn't want to see them anymore. After about a week, venmo sent me an update that all the disputes were resolved in my favor and they restored my account. He then filed the disputes again through his bank and this time venmo approved it and has frozen my account until I pay back the amount. It's not an insignificant amount of money (at least to me) and this man is more than aware that I don't have the financial means to pay this. Nor do I think it's fair that he got his money back. Without the texts, I have nothing to prove my innocence. What can be done here? Do I need to get a lawyer? Someone please help me.
