Hi, would I need a lawyer for a modification of child support? I am unemployed and had a new child since the original decree and I asked for the modification because of that. I also want to have a drug test order removed or at least reduced. (My ex can request a random hair test 2 times a year and if I don't comply I have to do 3 months of piss tests and a hair test while on supervised visits to regain joint custody). Will they allow me a continuance if I request time to get a lawyer? I just found out the court date is tomorrow because i called in asking when it was going to happen. Turns out they emailed the wrong email back in September and I never got it. (Someone mysteriously hacked my attorney general account and changed my email to a yahoo account I only used when I first met my ex 11 years ago) I am thanking the gods I called to check randomly today or I would have missed it. I need major help.

My ex was abusive, stalks me and used illegal tactics during our divorce to undermine me and make me look like a drug addict. I have never actually failed any of the drug tests except the very first one at court hearing for divorce and I only failed for the after having smoked a joint with friends. I don't use this word loosely, and I know many people do, but this man is a true blue real covert narcissist who is also very intelligent and manipulative.

He has financially ruined me with child support payments, Healthcare insurance responsibilities and half of all medical. He never sends clothes or helps with food so i am on food stamps just to feed them when i do get them. He never invludes me in their birthday parties or volleyball games, and refuses to coparent in any way. He disparages me and my youngest believes i stole all their dads money...? He even makes me pay for half of their school lunches. He makes 3 times what I did before I was unemployed. I am about to be homeless and the state doesn't care. They just want the child support payments which I don't have and can never catch up on at this point even if I got a job. My 3rd child suffers from this too as her father abandoned us and I'm the only one she has.
