in Texas A repair man discriminated my dad over his immigration status over an unfinished job he failed to complete along with overcharging him for a repair and began threathening him. Should I call the police first or find a lawyer that handles these type of cases ?

Post Body

Hello everyone,

The reason I am posting is due that back in July after Hurricane Beryl and this week. After Hurricane Beryl, my dad has a friend who own's repair company offered to repair the damages that Beryl caused to our house. The insurance company then issued us a first check an we then called him to repair the damages of the house. My dad's friend started the damage the hurricane caused but didn't complete everything. He then decided to look at the roof of the house and insisted to get it fixed by sending a quote the insurance company and photos of the roof to approve the quote. We then had to wait 5 weeks for the insurance to respond back and they approved quote in his favor not ours. When he found out the check was ready to be cashed, he wanted us to deposit him the check immediately. We asked them before depositing the check to show us photos different shingle roofing material he was going to buy but in a rude way said he would put the same roofing and insisting he wanted money due that he was the reason the check was given and that the reason the money was never sent to him. He soon then began threathing my dad by saying he would call the cops on him for fraud. He even came to my house disrespected my dad by calling him a " wetback or illegal " saying he would call police on him. My dad the called the insurance to inform them about what happened and they decided to cancel the check and instead find a different contractor to finish the job. My parents don't know what to do next but I want to do the best help them. What reccomendations would you reccomend doing afterwards ?
