wondering if it’s legal for a landlord to have a camera in my friends kitchen (bc, canada)

hi, not sure if this is the right sub to be posting this in, but it might be a good start.

my (20F) friend (and ex roommate), (19F) moved into a new rental with 2 other girls. the landlord is a middle aged man who does not live on site. we both have a few concerns about some of the rules in place, and the legality of them. firstly, my biggest concern, the landlord has a camera INSIDE the kitchen. it’s pointed towards the entire kitchen, and there’s signage saying 24/hr surveillance. i’m not sure how legal this is as it’s inside the rental unit. there’s also 3 young girls living here, which is slightly unsettling.

there’s also a laundry ‘rule’ where you can only do one load of laundry, once a week. this means she can’t wash her lights, darks, and colours all in one day, but it will take 3 weeks to wash all clothes. this feels like a breach of her comfortability in the unit, which in turn could affect the cleanliness of the unit.

there are multiple ‘notices’ around the house, which she is not allowed to remove. i’ll attach some of the photos below.

there’s also a rule of no overnight guests without the landlords approval, and no dinner guests without approval aswell.

she’s not allowed to consume any alcohol on the property, despite the legal age of drinking where we live (british columbia, canada) being 19.

she’s not allowed to shower or cook past 10pm (this could be an issue as we both work in restaurants and don’t usually get home until 1-2am)

this all seems oddly controlling to me, and it feels like it somehow breaks the right to peaceful enjoyment. please let me know if we’re being crazy thinking this is slightly unfair. i’ve rented 3 times in the past and have had my share of controlling landlords, but this just seems otherworldly. this is her 2nd time renting, and first time renting without knowing who she’s living with.
