Earlier this year back in March my dad co-signed for me to get reliable transportation. The original loan was through GM financial. Me and my dad both signed everything together that entitles both of us as equally responsible/owners for the vehicle/loan. Back in August without any notice or communication my dad went behind my back and refinanced the vehicle through Navy Federal to take away my ownership rights without any notice or signature from me giving up ownership/interest in the vehicle. He randomly showed up to my house and just took my car without saying anything. The only thing he said when I called him was that the car didn't belong to me and if I wanted it back I will have to refinance the car out of his name to get the car back from him. I went to the OMV office to get a copy of the registration and they told me that the vehicle is still titled in both of our names and the title/registration is flagged and currently being held until a $300 insurance flag is paid along with an improperly processed/very questionable shady Auto title transfer. I don't understand how this type of situation is even remotely possible. l inquired with Navy Federal to see about refinancing and they told me that I didn't qualify for the loan. How can this situation be resolved or voided? Is what my dad did even legal? What is recommended in this situation?
