Hi all,
Iâm seeking advice about a situation my fiancĂ©e is facing at her job. She works at a large retail store and has been dealing with chronic health issues after surgery last year. These health problems have occasionally required her to call out of work, but sheâs tried hard to work through it as much as possible.
Recently, she applied for a medical accommodation through the corporate system, which was approved. However, her manager called her into a meeting and told her she needed to withdraw the accommodation request or she wouldnât have a job anymore. He also accused her of being âdisrespectfulâ for going through corporate channels after he ignored her earlier attempts to request help. He even admitted he could deny her request with âthe push of a buttonâ and made it clear her job is at risk.
On top of this, the same manager has belittled her, told her she âsucks at her job,â and dismissed her reports of workplace bullying by saying, âI donât care.â This treatment has caused her immense stress and anxiety, and it feels like clear retaliation for advocating for herself.
Weâre in Washington State and wondering if thereâs any legal action she can take to protect herself. Any advice on how to proceed or where to start would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
