This just happened 20 minutes ago and I'm kinda still processing it, so sorry if this seems like whining.
What happened: I was just pulled over by a motorcycle cop for allegedly going 50 in a 35. But as soon as I saw him at the crossroad, I checked my speedometer and I was going 45 and let off the gas to correct my speed just in case because I didn't know the posted speed limit, but I was pretty sure it was 45. I didn't see a radar gun or anything in his hands, just a cop on a motorcycle waiting to turn left. He made his left turn with lights on, I pulled over, he said why he was pulling me over, scanned my license, vehicle registration, looked at my insurance card, and I had my ticket in hand with instructions to go to court all in about 5 minutes. He didn't ask any questions and walked away before I could ask any, especially since I didn't agree with the speed he allegedes.
My question: Can I request proof of the speed he says I was going? Do I have to plead not guilty to make that kind of request? Or if I plead not guilty and he appears, is it his word against mine regardless of if it's accurate or not?
