Last night, I was on my way home from work. I was in the outside lane of a 2 lane roundabout to take the second exit into my neighborhood, when I realize that there is a truck to my right that has no intention of yielding when it was too late. Neither of us have a dashcam (I ordered one this morning).
We pull into a parking lot to assess the situation. No one was hurt, minor scuff towards the back of his truck, my passenger headlight and part of my hood were pretty banged up. We exchanged pictures of our licenses and phone numbers to keep in contact, Iām aware I need his insurance information but Iām not sure what else. No cops were called.
During the assessment he made it very clear that he thought I was responsible, saying that he was in the roundabout before me and that I was going āpretty fastā (outside lane, taking the second exit, and the roads were wet from melted snow. Iām not sure you can do that going faster than 25 mph without losing traction). I tried explaining that there was pretty much no way I shouldāve come close to him given his āpoint of viewā, but he would immediately shake his head.
Iām wondering what else I can do. Iām okay if the insurance companies settle it, but frankly this old guy was pretty shitty all the way through, so if thereās further action for me to take, Iām ears. Like I said previously, neither of us had a dashcam, and no cops were called.
