It was a toxic work environment from the start. The employee involved has run off others before and the owners see her as a valuable employee. We had a disagreement. She strong-armed them that it was her or me. I was disposed of quickly after years of devoted service.
They said they would pay my health benefits and commission for the remainder of the fiscal year(1 month), but if I signed an independent contractor agreement, should I still be entitled to my commissions? The company has even gone as far to lie to disgruntled clients and employees and say that they reached out to offer me a position in another department, but they never did. They told others that I resigned. The CEO has also defamed me to my new boss and claims I need mental health āhelpā. They told me they would speak well of me, which is why I was not being āterminatedā and want me to sign a letter of resignation. I asked for a copy via email and they sent it, but didnāt send me out with one when they took my key and escorted me out of the building.
Iāve moved on to a new position with another company within the month this has happened, so never filed for unemployment. I just want to be paid what I earned and walk away to enjoy my new position and less-stressed life.
Is this worth hiring an attorney to send a demand letter and see if I am entitled to the commissions as long as I am an agent on the account?
