Hi all, I live in Allegheny County, PA and was traveling in Delaware this past August for work. I had a rental car and visited Rehoboth Beach. I parked in zone 8850 and at 1:15pm paid for 3hrs of parking, cost ~$13, using the Park Mobile app. I got back to my car around 3:30pm (~45min parking left on the clock) and saw a parking ticket for $40. Confused, I read it and then checked the app and realized it had defaulted back to my personal vehicles license plate before I hit “park”. No problem I thought, so I appealed the ticket online and sent a screenshot of the app showing I did indeed pay for the parking but accidentally used my personal vehicles license plate. I never heard back and thought that was that. I received a final demand letter from Rehoboth Beach this week asking for $160! I called the city parking folks and they explained my appeal had gone through the court, the judge denied it and allegedly sent me a letter with the denial and another ask for $40 (to my knowledge I did not receive said denial letter). Since I never got the letter and obviously didn’t pay the $40 it’s escalated to $160 and soon will go to collections. The thing is, I’ll never go back to RB and the car was a rental. I’m tempted to let the bill go to collections and fight it out with them. Any advice?
