I matched with a girl on a dating app yesterday, and she was definitely of age. At least her profile said so at least, there was no discussion about it then. We took conversation to texting where conversation was benign.
She then turns it sexual, sends a nude (no face) and says she’s not yet 18 but wants me to join her to celebrate her 18th birthday. In the same breath asking “what I’m working with”. I only said “6” and dodged all remaining sexual questions.
Conversation died, and today I first get a call of somebody claiming to be a police officer local to them. He states that she’s in the hospital resulting from attempts at self harm. He’s stating this could be a huge crime and that I should be very worried. He offers to let me talk to her father and “work something out” without going through legal channels (red flag 1). I say sure.
A few minutes later, I get a call from a different man claiming to be her father. He’s trying to sound upset, saying I must have caused her to harm herself… but also saying he can see my messages where there was nothing even remotely suggestive of that. He proceeds to say that we could figure it out to where I won’t get charges, but after going back and forth, I tell him that I’m not sure how I’m remotely liable for her current supposed condition, as well as the messages. I say, if you want to go through legal channels, go for it, and he hangs up mid sentence.
I’m thinking this is all a farce to get me to pay them money to avoid charges, which is why I’m calling that police force to inquire about an active investigation tomorrow… but I need to know:
Am I in deep shit for not ending the convo the instant she said she wasn’t 18 yet? Does me saying “6” after she asked about my member implicate me in a crime? I never asked for inappropriate photos of her at any point in the conversation. In Kentucky btw.
Sorry for the long winded transcript. Can provide screenshots of convo in DMs if requested. TIA!!!
