Hi there! I was recently in a car accident in the state of Georgia in which the other driver rear ended me badly. The driver was driving for Uber at the time and she was unsure of her insurance through Uber, so I originally filed a claim with my own insurance with the assumption that Uberās insurance would reimburse my insurance.
My auto insurance has taken on all car repair and rental car costs and Uberās insurance (which Iāve learned is Farmerās insurance) has since reached out and has taken full responsibility as being at fault. Thereās no denying it since the other driver was cited by police at the scene of the accident. Since Iām going through my own insurance, I will need to pay the deductible for my car repairs until reimbursed by the at fault insurance. This is difficult for me as Iām a student and donāt have the means to pay this, but Iām going to make it work!
On top of this, I sustained a concussion in the accident and really hurt my back. Iāve already seen the doctor for my concussion, but will need several more doctorās appointments to diagnose and treat a back injury. Iām also worried about the ongoing damage a concussion and back injury could do later in life. I literally cannot afford the copays of several appointments (even going through my medical insurance), and the at fault insurance refuses to pay any copays upfront and will not even reimburse until āall treatment is completed.ā This could mean paying out of pocket for scans, PT, and various appointments and I wouldnāt be reimbursed until then. This could also mean that 20 years down the line if Iām still experiencing pain from this, that this would not be covered. Iāve cancelled my upcoming appointments because I cannot afford to go, but Iām so upset because a reckless driver has caused all of this and now im in pain and Iām unable to get any medical treatment.
Is there any way for me to fight for a settlement to cover these medical costs upfront? Preferably without going through the hassle of getting an attorney? Iāve already spoken to a few and it does not sound optimal
Tldr: at fault insurance company is not offering a settlement and I cannot afford to front costs for medical care, therefore Iām not getting medical care for injuries from a car accident
