My roommate had been overcharging me on rent, amounting to a loss of $60. He was so unwilling to give me the utility bills statements for wifi, gas, and electric, for the longest of time and now I see why. Only reason I paid him was because stuff was about to get turned off, i.e. wifi and I work from home a few days a week.
At some point I asked my landlord if he couls give me the utilities but he told me he has no control as he only pays for water. He didn't know how much it was and said we were entirely responsible for our own gas, wifi, and electric.
All utilities are in an account under his name. I just agreed to split it with him.
After reviewing the statements I confronted him about it when he finally gave them to me upon me moving, and I saw the overpayment for three months.
He told me I could subtract the overpayment from the last two months I owe. I ignored his texts, blocked him, and decided not to pay him the $250 I owe.
He sent me an email saying he'll take me to small claims court but I ignored it.
