I recently discovered that a water line serving my house runs through a neighboring empty lot due to a subdivision of the original lot 4 years ago. The lot is in the process of being sold. The water line has been in place for over 20 years, and I believe I have an implied easement that protects my right to its current location. I’m trying to figure out my legal options to stop them from moving the line, and whether I could negotiate compensation if they insist on relocating it. Additionally moving it would make the lot easier to develop which I don't want. Alternatively Has anyone dealt with a similar situation in North Carolina or can offer advice on handling property Disputes like this.
