My friend was in an personal injury accident and hired a personal injury lawyer, the lawyer in question from the beginning has been a shit show.

From asking her to sign a release of medical records 5 different times, and lying about the amount that said lawyer would advocate for, as well as requesting my friend to go to the doctor multiple times only to call two days before the appointment to tell her that she didn’t need to go, and they’ll settle without it, they were supposed to settle back in September, but it got pushed out YET AGAIN, this last time my friend had enough, they said she was going to settle for a certain amount, my friend even SIGNED FOR A RELEASE, after months of pushing back, this lawsuit has been 3 years of running around, what broke the camel’s back is that after signing the release to receive the settlement, she decided to contact the law firm, and spoke to the paralegal asking for the exact amount she was going to receive, as well as asking for a legal documentation from the opposing party for the exact amount they settled for and they refused, they refused any legal documentation and, told her they can’t give it to her, this was the fourth time the lawyer stated we had a settlement by the way, and the only time she was asked to sign the release

They were ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO CALL HER THIS TUESDAY, but never did,

My friend feels THEY GOT MORE MONEY THAN WHAT WAS AGREED UPON, AND TOLD HER THEY GOT A LOWER AMOUNT, SO THEY CAN TAKE AS MUCH AS THEY WISHED, WHICH THE LAYWER WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE 25% OF THE SETTLEMENT.

Now the lawyer is refusing to show any legal documents from the opposing party, not answering any calls, a month after signing a release for the settlement by the way.

What’s her resources or course of action? Upon further inspection, it appears the lawyer has received horrible reviews, my friend wishes to know her legal course of action and if the lawyer can run away with her settlement.
