Post Body

I received a dwi/open container 2 weeks ago I am 19 and this is my first one. I got off my shift from work and drove to my friends smoke shop since he owns it I usually chill there with him or his employees for a bit after work. I was driving down a street and cut them off. They called the police and followed me all the way to the smoke shop. I was at the smoke shop for about 30-45 minutes before the police showed up. They asked to talk to me and asked if the car was mine. I got pulled over and searched twice that week and the police didn’t find anything. So I let them search this time they found an old shooter from January that I didn’t know was in there. No one from the pd saw me driving. The shooter is so old it has crystallized sugar in it. A lawyer quoted me 8500 but told me he most likely can get it dropped without even going to court. He said it’s a very easy case. However, since it’s such an easy case should I go with a court appointed lawyer or pay almost 10k for a lawyer. My father would be the one paying so money isn’t really an issue but if it’s going to be the same outcome I’d rather not have my dad pay all of that money. I am looking for advice if I should go with a court appointed one or pay. Thank you.
