Medical Certificate for Sick Leave as a Casual Employee

Post Body

I work for an organisation on a causal basis (I.e no paid sick leave/holiday leave etc.). I called in sick for my shift and was asked to provide a medical certificate. I attended my GP and was given a cert, however was advised by a few people that as I was only employed casually and only missed one shift, I legally didn’t have to provide the certificate. I’m just wondering if this is true and what are the parameters etc? Thanks in advance!
