My husband’s father was arrested today around 2am. To paint the picture he is an undocumented immigrant and was drunk outside a rest area in Florida. His wife and kids were there too. Apparently they stopped to use the restroom and he already drunk (wasn’t driving) got out of the car, yelled some stuff and started kicking his own car.
The security guard called the police and they arrested him under the charges of domestic violence. I want to point out that he didn’t engage in any physical or verbal abuse towards any person including his family but obviously the kids did start crying when they realized his father was being arrested.
Now my question is what is going to happen with him? I don’t really now how this works for someone with his status and my husband is already really worried about his mother and sisters. This had never happen before and well we understand he could even be deported for something like this. Also why is the charge domestic violence when that wasn’t something happening at the moment of arrest?.
