He had a DUI in 2021. this past Saturday he was drunk and got kicked out of a bar around 1am. the officer then I guess the officer kept his eye on him for a couple minutes and he went into an alley and pee’d.. same officer was going to cite him for alcohol intoxication and asked him to call a friend to come pick him up. but my friend lost his phone at the bar and tried calling the few numbers he had memorized and no one answered so the officer arrested him and he spent the night in jail.
he has a court date in a month. because of the DUI a couple years ago I believe he doesn’t qualify for a diversion program. he’s hoping to apply to PA school in the next year or so and is extremely worried this will keep him from being accepted in.Â
is this worth getting a lawyer involved? I know it wouldn’t hurt but there are some mental health issues involved and he has very little money. I’m trying to help support him but have zero knowledge of any of this. Just want to give him the best advice
