I had to visit the hospital twice in August after a work related injury and then an unrelated personal health problem less than a month later and was ultimately terminated.
Now, the hospital is saying that because I cited a work injury, they need to follow up with lots of info for a worker's compensation claim because they can't claim it to my health insurance based on my statement about my initial injury happening at work. I am no longer with that employer, bit* the hospital needs follow up information or else I am stuck with a $6500 bill that I doubt my insurance will pay based on the circumstances.
How do I address this considering I was terminated shortly after for seemingly unrelated reasons only weeks later?
My health insurance is based in CT, but my now former employer where the injury occurred is based in NY. I was seen by a CT hospital. Being fired from this company and having my new iphone stolen by a colleague just screams lawsuit, but I am not litigious. I just don't know how to approach the hospital bill situation.
Thanks in advance for your help.
