Had a friend essentially bully me into helping him buy a car. I gave him 600$ in two payments for my half and he paid the other 600. Well he found a nicer car and bought that one and decided to give me the car we bought. Gave me the key but kept the title because the bill of sale was in his name. He was going to get the car registered and then sign the title over to me. 3 days later I get a text from him saying that he decided that he was going to keep the car and he needed me to drop it off at his mother's house that was over 1200miles away by the end of Oct (yesterday) or he was going report it stolen and press charges. By that time I had already taken the car to a mechanic to fix the front end alignment and bought two brand new front tires totaling me $480 altogether. I told him about the mechanic work and asked that he pay me back all the money I put into the car before I would turn it over to him. He refused saying he would pay it back when he returns from Florida in 2 months, but I needed to give up the car immediately. I don't know what to do in this situation. I don't want to give him back the car on the maybe that he's trustworthy enough to pay me back. After this stunt I dont trust him at all! I'm thinking I should also charge him a delivery fee and a storage fee for taking the car to Texas for him. Edit: We both life in north Texas and were working together in northern Minnesota when we bought the car. He found someone else to hitch a ride with to go work a gig in Florida. I had no other way to get back to Texas except to use the car he just gave me. I had orignally planned to sstay the winter in Sioux Falls SD because i had the car. He wants me to drop it off in northern Texas at his moms house. I'm currently in Texas.
