Hello Everyone!
I am just looking for some knowledge on my rights to know if I should proceed.
I have PTSD and have found the most relief in using marijuana to treat my symptoms when they are triggered. The anxiety and restlessness got much worse as I studied for the MCAT the first time. As I am studying to retake it, I want to get a medical card to be allowed to treat my symptoms but I am also wanting to apply medical school and become a physician. My future is the most important thing to me. I have completed my undergrad, taken the MCAT once, and Iām working on getting a little more clinical experience before I apply next year.
In the past, I failed a drug test for marijuana for a clinical job, and the nurses mentioned I should get my medical card. I am based in Pennsylvania.
Could getting a medical card inhibit me from becoming a physician at any stage? From medical school to residency to actually getting a job as a physician.
I understand that as a doctor passing drug tests is important, so it is my understanding that consuming it later on in residency and as an attending would come with more risks and even not be possible when compared to now.
Could getting a medical marijuana card inhibit me from getting into medical school? If I stop using it before clinical rotations/residency, are there any legal grounds that they can access records & I can be denied into these programs? Should I avoid it to be safe?
