Hi y’all, I got off work a couple hours ago and I had something happen that I wanted to share and ask about. A couple hours into my shift I was sitting in the back and I was chatting with a coworker of mine and for no reason in particular, I asked him to vote. I try to do it as much as I can, I don’t care who they support, I just care that they do it. His response is what puzzled me: according to him, it’s not that he doesn’t want to, it’s that he can’t. He claims that since he has a felony he isn’t allowed to vote. Now for some reference, we are in the state of New York, and to my knowledge as long as you aren’t actively incarcerated or on parole for your crimes you can still vote even with a felony. I didn’t pry (he isn’t a kiddy diddler, I checked) but from what I understand he served time in a different state and then moved up here some time ago. Just wanted some information and/or some advice, I would love to get him out voting if he has the rights to do so.
