I got a call from a debt collection agency earlier today. They left a voicemail and asked for my brother (who I did not know had any debts besides student loans, but I won’t ask), so they obviously got the wrong number. So I called them back and asked why they called. They gave me their company name and then asked what would be a good number to reach him at. I deflected and didn’t give them it (nor my name), instead basically saying “Yeah that name sounds familiar. I’ll look in my address book and ask him to call you back”. After, I called my brother and he seemed confused why they would be calling me instead of him, and said something about them not taking payments out he sent them. But that’s his thing to deal with.

My concern is that, whatever he’s got going on with this organization, they’re going to now keep calling me or even emailing me, pestering me until I give them something or help them in some way. Should I be concerned? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
