Gwinnett County, Georgia
Previous was removed. This is simple version. Last October my ex beat me badly. Police were called, photos of my injuries were taken, wrote statement out. He wouldn’t answer door, warrant issued and turns himself in last Halloween.
Haven’t been contacted at all from police, court, the ex. zero follow up or docs provided to ime.
Online it says State of Georgia vs his name. Charge shows - Battery - Family Violence (1st offence) Misdemeanor. Status shows open (pending) and case number cannot pull anything but starts with PRE, and says Pre-File. Not trial but file. Its been like that for 11.5 months. Finally found new case viewer two days ago. Same info shows but this one has 3 preview documents. Two have my name on it. Conditions of bond doc say that he isnt allowed to contact me or be in areas I frequent or will get charged felony etc. says they will be sending me copy of these documents but I never received anything at all. Tried to call in the past and was told I wasn’t able to get info on the phone unless I was him.
He is active duty National guard and was scheduled to leave on deployment a few weeks after this event.
My question -
Once this hits a year in two weeks, if not convicted of charges will this be tossed ?
Could it still be pending because I wasn’t communicated with correctly? And/or Does the victim have to make a statement in family violence case when it’s the state who is doing charges ?
What’s steps can I take to ensure this can be resolved ?
