So, I got an MUI charge when I was 18. I went to court, got put on probation, and had to do monthly drug tests. I failed my first drug test. I had to go back to court, got put on longer probation with more community service hours, and had to go through all the paperwork and stuff like that again. I ended up finishing up strong, never failed another one and on my last visit with my probation officer, she said that the case is closed. BUT the thing is, my friends who were also with me had to go back to court when they finished everything (they didn't fail a drug test) and I didn't so I'm confused as to whether or not it's still on my record?? I applied to medical school but I didn't disclose this charge. I thought that when my probation officer said it was closed that it meant it's done and not on my record. I even emailed her asking about it but she said she doesn't work there anymore and that "it should be closed and not on your record." I've been doing research on it and I can't find an accurate answer to my problem so if someone could give me some advice that would be so helpful. The charge was in Georgia, I was 18, and I don't live there right now to go to the sheriff's office and get my criminal record. Also if it is on my record, am I able to get it expunged or sealed?? I don't know, honestly hate that it happened and hate that I am looking into so late because I know that even getting sealed or expunged is a long process.
