Being charged to repair something that wasn’t my doing/fault
Post Body

This was my first time using a rental company— I had rented an RF 70-200mm F2.8 camera lens and returned it in the same condition it came in. I also rented an R8 with it and cleaned it prior. I just got an email stating that the lens came back with a scratch on the front element, which would not have been possible as it came with a lens protector on it that didn’t even come off once during my rental period. Before returning I cleaned the lens protector from the outside, the connector, and sent it back on its way.

Is there anything I can do to fight this?? I responded to them with what I mentioned above. I did purchase the rental protection but they’re saying the repair is going to exceed the deductible on it. I know for a fact that I did not cause damage to the lens and I’m freaking out over this. I did not, unfortunately take pictures of the return condition but I do have pictures I took with the equipment, that might show that a scratch was not present.

I am based out of PA.
