I was a guest in an air b&b in NY with 3 others. One of the guys (also a registered guest) got very drunk and broke down the door to my room.
While he was screaming at me I started gathering my things. I started recording in case things got physical and I needed evidence.
A day later he sends me a text saying that it was illegal for me to record him without telling him he was being recorded. Says that it was in an Air B&B and he did not have a shirt on so that makes it a crime.
Is this true? Recording only captured him in my room and the common hallway. There was zero recording in his room. We are both registered guests of the AB&B, if that matters. Additionally, while his shirt was off his pants were on and there was no exposure of any privates.
I was scared since a drunk man broke the door and was yelling at me, figured I needed the video to protect myself. Is what I did legal?
*I am aware NY is a one party consent state, just not sure how this applies in a rented air b&b and if has grounds to sue
