Planning on buying a vehicle from a private seller

I live in Texas, the guy selling his car lives in Georgia. I’m buying a used car that has been modified, I honestly don’t know anything about the law, but I think if something is wrong with the car from a dealership you have some security with you can take it back and get it fixed with no cost. Is there anything like this buying from a private seller selling his personal car, or anything I should do before buying this car? Thanks
